It was the Nathan Hover show as he netted twice to secure a convincing win for Eastbourne Town. One with his head and one with his foot makes it four in two for the fullback. Lancing netted a late consolation but seemed second best for the majority of the match.

It was a fast start from the hosts which resulted in a corner in the first few minutes. James Waters swung the ball in, and a switched-on James Dillion had to tip the curving attempt over the bar to prevent an early goal. However, Lancing threatened from a corner of their own not long after following a good save of a long-range effort by Winterton. Lancing’s corner proved equally dangerous with the attempted header being cleared off the line by Dan Hull. The rest of the half passed as a non-event, with much of the football being played in Lancing’s half but lacking any decisiveness from Town.

Following his two goals in the 2-2 draw against Beckenham Town, Nathan Hover continued his fine goal scoring form by heading home the opener here. Jack Murphy’s left footed cross from deep finds Hover with space to nod home his header cooly.

Town continued to push and looked most dangerous down their left flank through Jack Murphy’s crosses. The best of these was flashed across the six-yard box with a late arriving James Hull stretching but unable to get a solid connection.

It seemed Nathan Hover wouldn’t settle for 3 goals in 2 games as he found himself free after a corner was flicked on at the front post. He poked the effort in and proved he can do more than score with his head and netted his fourth in half as many games.

Eastbourne looked comfortable for the remainder of the match with Charlie Gibson’s last-minute goal only proving a consolation for Lancing. It’s another good result for the hosts who cement themselves as a force to be reckoned with during their first season in the Isthmian league.
