It was a comfortable win for Eastbourne Town in uncomfortable conditions as storm Darragh raged through the Saffrons. A first-half brace from James Waters which was added to by Marcin Ruda and a returning JJ walker capped off a dominant win from the hosts.

Eastbourne took no time at all to have an impact on the game. With the wind against them, a long ball towards James Stone held up in the air, allowing the number 9 to knock the ball down to James Waters. Waters smashed the looping volley first time to beat Stroomberg from 25 yards. 4 minutes in and the wonder goal placed Eastbourne on top.

The home side continued to dominate and doubled their lead 28 minutes in through that man again James Waters. Jack Murphy whipped a decisive ball onto the left foot of Waters. His first touch spun the defender and his second provided a clinical finish into the opposite corner. Several other chances for Eastbourne came to nothing and the first half concluded 2-0 to the hosts without Steyning having much say in it at all.

The second half started much the same as the first with James Stone scoring 2 minutes in but the linesman flagged for offside. This didn’t hold Eastbourne back for long though as they won the ball high up the pitch, leading to Leon Greig playing the ball across to Ruda who delicately touched it down and finished cooly into the bottom right corner. Steyning remained bystanders to the game, with this being capped off by JJ Walker scoring after returning from injury for Eastbourne Town. His deflected long range effort left Nathan Stroomberg helpless to prevent it from nestling into the corner.

A tidy brace from James Waters and a comfortable second half send the visitors home with nothing and stuck in 21st  whilst Eastbourne Town sit 12th in the league.
