We are delighted to announce the return of the Eastbourne Charity Cup, a historic fixture that will see Eastbourne Town and Eastbourne United go head-to-head once again! This highly anticipated match will take place at The Oval on Friday 9th May, with kick-off at 7:45 pm.
The Eastbourne Charity Cup holds over 100 years of history, and we are thrilled to bring it back as an annual event. Each year, the game will alternate between The Saffrons and The Oval, with the home side selecting a charity to support. This year, Eastbourne United have chosen to donate proceeds to the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, a cause close to the heart of United chairman Matt Thompson, whose father sadly passed away from the disease last year.
Thompson expressed his pride in using this occasion to raise funds for MND, saying:
“Bringing back the Eastbourne Charity Cup is a fantastic moment for both clubs, but it also gives us a chance to do something truly meaningful. The MND Association is a charity that means a great deal to me and my family, and we are proud to support their vital work in memory of my father.”
Our chairman, Dave Shearing, also shared his excitement:
“This is more than just a football match—it’s about community, history, and supporting important causes. We’re proud to join forces with Eastbourne United to bring back the Eastbourne Charity Cup, and we can’t wait for what promises to be a fantastic evening of football.”
We encourage all Town supporters to come along and get behind the team for this special occasion. Not only will we be competing for a historic trophy, but we will also be coming together as a footballing community to make a difference.
