Back To Where It All Began

Town get set for Sussex Senior Cup second-round action on Tuesday night as we return to where it all started for our First-Team Manager. Jude Macdonald took charge of his first league match at Bartholomew Way back in the summer of 2022, resulting in a three-nil victory against The Boars. Tyler Capon, Lloyd Cotton and Jacob Minty scored for The Town that day.

Looking To Bounce Back

We will be looking to bounce back from a difficult week in the league. Last Tuesday night saw us lose to Herne Bay in the last minute after taking the lead with 15 minutes to go. Then, a solid and experienced Ashford United took all three points on Saturday at The Saffrons, both games seeing Town on the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

Roffey’s Challenge

Similarly to us, Roffey enjoyed a big win in their previous Sussex Senior Cup outing, defeating Saltdean United 6-0. However, their recent cup matches in the FA Vase and Peter Bentley Cup brought defeat for The Boars. A 5-0 defeat to Petersfield Town and most recently on Saturday a 5-4 penalty defeat in the Vase versus VCD Athletic. Despite this, Roffey will undoubtedly be up for the challenge as they look to bounce back and cause an upset. Not only this, a Derby match against Horsham awaits them should they secure the win.

Both clubs sit mid-table in their respective leagues, but as a newly promoted side to the Southern Combination Football League, Roffey will be relishing the opportunity to prove themselves against higher-tier opposition. We know that any cup tie presents its own unique challenges, and Roffey will be eager to show their quality on home soil.

The Path Forward

The Sussex Senior Cup is always a special competition, and advancing to the next round is a clear target for the squad. We look forward to seeing you in Horsham to continue our Sussex Senior Cup journey.

Kick-off is at 7:30 PM, and we hope to see as many of you as possible making the trip to Bartholomew Way to cheer us on. An away trip to Isthmian Premier side Horsham FC in the next round awaits the winner!
