Newly promoted Division 1 Champions, Shoreham FC, visit The Saffrons this evening for some knockout cup football.

We welcome our opponents back not only to The Saffrons but the SCFL Premier Division after a championship-winning season in Division One. Many congratulations to the committee, Manager Michael Death and his squad on their successful campaign. Their return to Step 5 has been a challenging one though with only one point from their first four league games. The Musselmen will be looking to use this cup match to kick-start their season.

Like many SCFL Premier clubs, Shoreham succumbed to the sweeping player recruitment process of Lancing FC. The Musselmen lost one of their star men, Harry Heath. Heath was last season’s top goalscorer in Division One with 27 goals, an excellent return that will be missed by Michael Death and his staff. However, Josh Gould has certainly made the step up and staked his claim to lead the charge, grabbing two goals in three appearances. He will be looking to continue his good run of form this evening.

Town will be going into this fixture feeling refreshed after having the weekend off. The supporters and fans will still be in a buoyant mood after overturning a 0-1 deficit at half-time last Tuesday to win 2-1 against AFC Varndeanians. Our first and much-needed win of the season has helped settle things down.

There was even more good news coming out of The Saffrons on Monday night with the signing of Tom Vickers from local rivals Bexhill United. An experienced player who has already got 92 appearances and 20 goals under his Eastbourne Town belt after spells at the club between 2015-2021.
