A Local Clash At The Saffrons To End 2023

Town are in action at home this Saturday and it’s another local mouthwatering clash. Little Common are the visitors for what will be the final home fixture of 2023!

After a rollercoaster Boxing Day Eastbourne Derby, finishing 2-2, Town will be looking to find a good run of form again after a month of mixed results. Defeats to Lingfield and Newhaven on either side of a great win against Steyning put a dampener on Town’s Christmas. A repeat of September’s form would be welcomed greatly should we wish to break back into that all-important top five.

Our Opponents

Our visitors are chugging along quite nicely. Russell Eldridge’s side sits in 11th place on 25 points and continues to find a way of performing exceptionally well in the league, season after season. This season they certainly showed up against the high-flyers, securing 4 points against the current top two, three of those points coming by way of a 3-2 win over Crowborough Athletic.

Eastbourne Town can complete the league double over Little Common after securing three points back in August with a 1-2 win. Frankie Chappell and Evan Archibald getting on the scoresheet in that one. Last season, Town managed to scrape a win on a bitterly cold winter’s evening in Little Common after Leon Greig scored direct from a corner. Earlier on in the 2022-23 season Little Common left The Saffrons with a hard-earned point after an emphatic free-kick in the last few minutes from 25-yards flew into the top corner. Que the celebrations and the unusual scene of a second yellow card for taking one’s shirt off during the chaos.
