Eastbourne Town vs Bexhill United – All You Need To Know
Eastbourne Town’s 2023/24 league campaign continues with a mouthwatering local derby at The Saffrons on Friday night.
Town started the league season slow with a point on the road at Hassocks and then two defeats to early pacesetters Crowborough Athletic and Steyning Town. Town have found their feet in recent days with three wins on the bounce in all competitions including a recent two-one win away to Little Common on Bank Holiday Monday. Jude and his side will be looking to make it four in a row with a win against our local rivals.
Bexhill, meanwhile, have had a poor start by their standards having not registered a point in their opening four league games. Despite this, the Pirates did manage to progress into the preliminary round of the FA Cup, unlike Town. Both clubs faltered to Kent-based teams respectively. The Pirates will certainly be up for this one and looking to kickstart their campaign with win against Town.

Previous Encounters
Bexhill United 3-1 Eastbourne Town (September 2022)
Last season this fixture was not short of drama. A new look Eastbourne Town travelled to The Polegrove twice in the first few months of the 2022/23 season. The first was not one to remember. Town lost that fixture 3-1 with only a consolation penalty from Anesu Sisimayi the only positive Town took back to Eastbourne.
Bexhill United 0-1 Eastbourne Town – FA Vase (November 2022)
November was a different game altogether. Town, known for their slow starts, were looking for revenge and they did just that. In a hotly contested FA Vase tie in front of 400+, Ollie Davies scored the only goal of the game to send Eastbourne Town through.
Eastbourne Town 1-1 Bexhill United (January 2023)
The reverse league fixture would provide more drama but this time well into injury time. Bexhill were looking odds on to take the three points after a solid performance at The Saffrons until a corner late on. Up came goalkeeper Chris Winterton who alongside Delwin Duah rushed the back post and jointly toepocked the ball into the back of the net to earn Town a point. Duah would later claim the goal but Winterton contests to this day!

Eastbourne Town players celebrate with supporters after beating Bexhill United.
