Eastbourne Town FC bring their 2024/25 Isthmian League South East season to a close this Saturday as they host playoff contenders Merstham FC at The Saffrons. With both sides heading into the final match in good form, it’s set to be a competitive and entertaining encounter.
Eastbourne Town – Looking to Finish Strong:
Currently 13th in the table with 53 points, Eastbourne Town will be aiming to make it four wins in a row to close out the campaign. A victory could lift them up to 12th and secure a strong end to what has been a solid season overall.
Town have been in excellent form recently, picking up wins against East Grinstead Town, Phoenix Sports and Lancing, while also earning revenge over AFC Croydon Athletic. Confidence will be high going into Saturday, especially after winning the reverse fixture 3-1 away at Merstham earlier in the season.
Top scorer James Stone leads the line with 20 goals in 46 appearances. He is supported by James Waters with 9 and midfielder Marcin Ruda with 6. Defender Nathan Hover has also made an impact going forward, scoring 7 times this season.

Merstham – Playoff-Bound and Dangerous:
Merstham arrive at The Saffrons already confirmed for the playoffs. Sitting 5th in the table with 75 points, they will face Sittingbourne in the semi-finals next Tuesday. With their place secured, Merstham will be looking to maintain sharpness and form ahead of their crucial post season fixture. Their recent run includes wins over Erith Town, Hythe Town and a dominant 9-0 result against East Grinstead Town. The likes of Henry, Drage and Brown have been regular contributors throughout the season and will be ones to watch again.
What to Expect:
With nothing left to play for in the table, both sides still have plenty to prove. For Eastbourne Town, it’s a chance to finish strong in front of the home supporters. For Merstham, it’s about building momentum going into a must win playoff clash. Town took the honours in the reverse fixture earlier this season and will be hoping to repeat that result at home. With both teams in good form and dangerous in attack, this has all the ingredients for an exciting final day showdown.
