Guy Hollobone
Born in Eastbourne in 1892, Guy Hollobone attended school at St Andrews (Norway) in Seaside, Eastbourne.
Originally he played for Eastbourne Old Town until 1914 serving the Royal Engineers in India during the first World War. Guy joined Town in 1919 scoring 20 goals in his first season. Guy became a prolific goal scorer between 1919 and 1928 and became Towns overall top scorer. A total of 207 goals over 246 appearances. 116 League goals, which was beaten by Gary Brockwell in 2010, and 91 Cup goals, which is still to be beaten to this date.
Guy also played for Sussex in representative games. Hollobone made a further appearance in September 1930 in a friendly against London Welsh and played in goal. Town lost 8-1. Following retirement from Football, Guy worked at the Co-Operative Society Dairy where he collapsed and died on 3rd July 1955.
