Chris Winterton

Sponsored by Val Lee and The Lee Family Chris Winterton is a third generation Winterton to play for Eastbourne Town. His grandfather, Derek Winterton, played as a defender in the late 1950’s, followed by his father, Dave, who later became a Town manager between 2001 and 2005. Chris started his career playing for the Brighton & Hove Albion Under 18’s. In 2007 he went on loan to Burgess Hill for three months returning back to Brighton and later in July 2008 went on a free transfer to Eastbourne Borough. After a year Chris went to AC Kajaani in Finland for a season and returning back to England and spending a season at Lewes Lewes before crossing over the South Downs to nearby Whitehawk where he spent a further three seasons. In 2014 Chris transferred to the other end of Sussex to Bognor Regis Town for a season before coming back east to Peacehaven & Telscombe for two months, returning back to Lewes in October 2015. In 2018, Chris hung up his gloves and retired from football briefly and signed for Eastbourne Town in December 2019 for the rest of the season replacing Jason Tibble. Chris appeared in every game in the 2022-23 season, 50 appearances, making 21 clean sheets.
